Solitaire Day

If you enjoy relaxing or passing time with games of solitaire, then be sure to celebrate National Solitaire Day, which is observed annually on May 22! Solitaire isn’t one specific game – it’s an entire category of games that can be played by one person.

While solitaire card games have been played for over 200 years, National Solitaire Day was founded by Microsoft in 2018 to commemorate the popularity of Microsoft Solitaire. Microsoft included a digital version of Klondike solitaire in its 1990 release of the Windows 3.0 operating system, and it has been available with every version of Windows since then. After over 30 years, Microsoft Solitaire is still one of the most-played computer games in the world.

Whether you’re one of the hundreds of millions of people who have enjoyed playing solitaire on a computer, or you prefer to play solitaire with a real deck of cards, take some time on National Solitaire Day to play a few games.
